We celebrated Grandma's 60th birthday in a big way! The theme for her surprise party was travel, so each table was decorated in a different city decor. The invitations were airline tickets, and when guests arrived they were required to "check their baggage" and choose their destination city. They were then seated at the chosen table. During their flight they enjoyed an in-flight meal that would be served in that city (so the San Francisco table had clam chowder in bread bowls, Bali had chicken satay, and New York had big slices of pizza). The granddaughters served drinks as the flight attendants, and the travelers also enjoyed in-flight entertainment.
We built a 4 foot Golden Gate Bridge out of popcicle sticks to decorate the San Francisco table. It was quite the project.
